Norway Ranks High on Gender Equality and Commitment to Development
In two different international rankings Norway have a top score on gender equality (World Economic Forum) and for its commitment to development (Center for Global Development).
In the Gender Gap Index 2008, presented by the World Economic Forum, Norway is ranked first out of 130 countries.The Norwegian government noted with appreciation the progress achieved globally at closing the gender gap.
In the Commitment to Development Index (CDI) 2008, presented by Center for Global Development, Norway (along with Sweden) ranked a decent 2 out of 22. The country with the best overall score was the Netherlands (6.7 points). Sweden and Norway both received 6.6 points. In 2007 Norway was third in the same index.
