Norway signs agreement with UN on cooperation in Southern Caucasus.

23/09/2008 // Mr. Jan Petersen, Foreign Minister of Norway, signed today an agreement with the UNDP to enhance cooperation between Norway and UNDP in Southern Caucasus. Under the agreement Norway will contribute USD 10 million over three years.

"We want to contribute to stability and prosperity in Southern Caucasus. The agreement with UNDP will be important for reform and Euro-Atlantic integration for this region. The agreement will also contribute to further strengthening the ties between Norway and Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia", says Mr. Petersen.

Under the agreement Norway will fund projects within democracy and governance, and energy and environment. Associate Administrator Mr. Zéphirin Diabré, UNDP, said the cooperation between Norway and UNDP would contribute to stability and security in the region.
