Ambassador Mr. Johan L. Løvald is one of the facilitators of the preparatory process for the follow-up conference to review the implementation of the Monterrey Consensus on Financing for Development.
21/04/2008 :: The Follow-up International Conference on Financing for Development to Review the Implementation of the Monterrey Consensus will be held in Doha, Qatar 29 November – 2 December 2008. Ambassadors Maged A. Abdelaziz of Egypt and Johan L. Løvald of Norway were appointed faciliators of the preparatory process for this conference by the President of the General Assembly.
In December 2007 a resolution was passed in the General Assembly setting out the modalities of the conference. The resolution (A/RES/62/187) decided that six review meetings, on the six thematic chapters of the Monterrey Consensus, were to be held the first half of this year.
Five review sessions have already been carried out during the last three months. The remaining session, on the trade chapter of the Monterrey Consensus, will be held 19-20 May 2008. The Monterrey Consensus was the outcome of the 2002 United Nations International Conference on Financing for Development in Monterrey, Mexico.
