Nordic Statements

The Nordic Countries appreciate the hard work that has led to the successful adoption of the revised Model Law. This Statement was delivered by Legal Affairs Counsellor Anniken Enersen.

This statement was presented by Deputy Permanent Representative Ms. Tine Morch Smith. The nordic countries are long term supporters of the peacekeeping operations as a key UN endeavour, and Ambassador Smith stressed the importance of protecting civilians.

This statement was presented on behalf of the Nordic countries - Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden - during the informal debate in the General Assembly on the review of civilian capacities.

On Wednesday February 9, the UN General Assembly held an informal thematic debate on disaster risk reduction called "Waking up to loss: Recognizing Risks, Controlling the Damage". Sweden's UN Ambassador Mårten Grunditz presented a statement on behalf of the five Nordic countries - Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland and Sweden.
