Ambassador Morten Wetland, Permanent Representative of Norway to the United Nations, presented Norway's statement to the Security Council on the issue of "Protection of civilians in armed conflict" on Monday September 22, 2010.

On behalf of the informal group of like-minded states, Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Tine Mørch Smith, highlighted the need for all states to cooperate fully with the Ombudsperson established to assist the Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee in reviewing requests for delisting.

Norway's Defence Minister Grete Faremo presented Norway's statement to the UN Security Council during the debate on women, peace and security. The meeting marked the ten-year anniversary of the landmark Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security.

Deputy Permanent Representative Tine Mørch Smith presented Norway's statement to the Security Council on September 29, 2010 on the situation in Afghanistan. Ambassador Smith expressed Norway's support for the efforts of UN Special Representative. She called for more robust Afghan leadership, the importance of an inclusive political process including women's participation in the peace process and the need for long term electoral reform.

Deputy Permanent Representative, Tine Mørch Smith, presented Norway's statement to the Security Council on The question concerning Haiti - Report of the Secretary-General on the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti, MINUSTAH. Ambassador Smith announced that Norway is nominating a team of five police personell to serve in MINUSTAH.

Deputy Permanent Representative Tine Mørch Smith presented Norway's statement to the UN Security Council on Wednesday August 25, 2010 on the issue of piracy off the coast of Somalia. Ambassador Mørch emphasised Norway's belief that Somali pirates should be prosecuted and jailed in the region, close to where the act of piracy has been committed..
