State Secretary Ingrid Fiskaa presented Norway's statement on the NVP Presentation at the Economic and Social Council on 1 July 2010

The Review Conference for the UN Fish Stocks Agreement was held at the UN in New York on May 24-28. The meeting was a continuation of the conference from 2006, and the main objective was to evaluate the implementation of the Agreement and to look for possible ways to strengthen the implementation and have more States become parties to the Agreement.

Permanent Representative, Ambassador Morten Wetland, presented Norway's statement at the UNICEF annual meeting of the Executive Board which takes place from 1-4 June 2010.

State Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Gry Larsen, presented Norway's statement in the opening debate of the 2010 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation Nuclear Weapons. The debate took place in the General Assembly Hall at the UN on May 4, 2010.

The UN General Assembly on Monday 19 April held a thematic debate on disarmament and non-proliferation. Deputy Permanent Representative Mona Juul moderated the first discussion panel under the theme: “Disarmament and world security: Challenges for the international community and the role of the United Nations”. These were her opening remarks at the debate.

Ms. Berit Austveg, Senior Adviser in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented Norways statement at the Commission on Population and Development on 13 April 2010. The statement addressed Agenda Item 4: General debate on national experience in population matters: health, morbidity, mortality and development.

The International Donors' Conference Towards a New Future for Haiti took place at the UN headquarters in New York on March 31, 2010. In her statement, Norwegian State Secretary for International Development, Ingrid Fiskaa, announced Norway's pledge to contribute NOK 800 million (USD 100 million) over four years to the rebuilding of Haiti.

Mr. Audun Lysbakken, Minister for Children, Equality and Social Inclusion, was invited to speak at the opening of the 54th session of the Commission on the Status of Women which runs from March 1-12, 2010. He was one of very few male ministers to speak at this event.

Audun Lysbakken, Minister for Children, Equality and Social Inclusion, was a key participant at the launch of MassiveGood, the new micro-donation initiative that allows travelers to give $2 towards the three health-related Millennium Development Goals. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and former US President Bill Clinton launched the scheme.
