The High-Level Conference of the UN's Central Emergency Response Fund took place in New York on December 13 and 14. In her statement, Deputy Permanent Representative Tine Mørch Smith announded Norway's contributions of NOK 325 million (USD 53 million) at the event.

Mr. Thoralf Stenvold, Minister Counsellor of Permanent Mission of Norway, presented Norway's statement to the UN Pledging Conference for Development Activities on 8 November 2010. Mr. Stenvold stressed that Norway will continue to be a major donor, but that we expect other countries, in particular the larger economies, to more than match our contributions.

On the eve of the Security Council debate on women, peace and security, Norway and Uganda co-hosted an event at the International Peace Institute. Norway's Defence Minister Grete Faremo, Eriya Kategaya, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs of Uganda, Under Secretary-General Michelle Bachelet of UN Women and film maker Abigail Disney were in the panel. UN Secretary-General's High-level meeting on Sudan on September 24, 2010 focused on implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Accord, including the referendum on self-determination for Southern Sudan scheduled for next January. Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre presented Norway's statement.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Brazil, France, Indonesia, Senegal, South Africa and Thailand, founding members of the Foreign Policy and Global Health initiative, met in New York on 22 September 2010, to review progress, renew commitments and focus the agenda going forward.

AHLC members and other major donor countries met in New York on Tuesday. The UN hosted the meeting. The Chair, Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, commended the participants, in particular the Palestinians and the Israelis, for their spirit of cooperation and their positive contributions to the deliberations.

Norway actively supports the implementation of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force. Senior Adviser Carl P. Salicath from Norway’s Foreign Ministry presented Norway’s statement at the Second Review Conference for the Global Strategy.

Assistant Director General Mr. Espen Gullikstad delivered the joint Nordic Statement on the follow-up to the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board Meeting (PCB)at the UNDP/UNFPA Executive Board Session, August 31st 2010.

Ms.Annette Abelsen, head of the Norwegian delegation, presented Norway's main statement to the The Preparatory Committee for the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT PrepCom). The Committee is meeting in New York from July 12-23.
