Norway's statement in the General debate was presented by Norway's Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Tine Mørch Smith. Among the issues raised in the statement were Norway's commitment to achieving the Millennium Development Goals, in particular improving maternal health and reducing child mortality. Ambassador Smith also emphasized Norway's central role in climate change mitigation efforts and the importance of progress in the Middle East peace process.

Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg presented addressed the UN Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Convened by the General Assembly, the Summit is aimed at spurring action towards achieving internationally agreed goals to reduce hunger, poverty and disease.

The State Secretary for International Development, Ms. Ingrid Fiskaa, presented Norway's statement on the Emergency response to the flood disaster in Pakistan on August 19, 2010. The General Assembly meeting looked at a strengthening of the coordination of humantiratian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations, including special economic assistance.

The UN General Assembly held a high-level meeting on transnational organised crime on 17 June 2010. The meeting was called by the President of the General Assembly. State Secretary Erik Lahnstein of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented Norway's statement.
