General Assembly: Committees

State Secretary Espen Barth Eide in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented Norway's opening statement in the General Assembly's Second Committee on October 6, 2010.

Ann-Marit Sæbønes, the Special Adviser in Norway's Ministry of Children, Equality and Inclusion presented Norway's statement to the General Assembly's Third Committee on "Social Development, Mainstreaming Disability in Development" on October 4, 2010.

In the General Assembly's Sixth Committee, Counsellor Åsmund Eriksen of the Permanent Mission of Norway to the UN underlined that Norway supports the Counter Terrorism Implementation Task Force and its work to put the Counter Terrorism Strategy into effect.

Mr. Trond Håvard Rudi, senior advisor at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented Norway's statement to the General Assembly's Third Committee on "Crime prevention and criminal justice" on October 6, 2010.

As is the tradition, youth delegates are invited to address the General Assembly's Third Committee at the start of the session. This year, on behalf of Norway, youth delegate Magnus Ofstad Malnes presented a statement on "The Right of Children and Young People to Particiation in Civil Society and Youth-led organisations."

State Secretary Espen Barth Eide presented Norway's opening statement to the UN General Assembly's First Committee in New York on October 4, 2010. The State Secretary encouraged the UN system to make better use of the opportunities that are now present within the field of disarmament.
