Norway stated, in the Security Council open debate Wednesday March 18th, that it is fully committed to support the African Union in its peacekeeping and peace building efforts. But the primary responsibility for responding to threats to international peace and security remains with the Security Council.

Norway is concerned that Parliament again has postponed the long-awaited debate on the recommendations of the Commission for Reception, Truth and Reconciliation on the Indonesian occupation. It is our hope that Parliament will set a new date for the debate as soon as possible, Ambassador Mona Juul said in the statement held 19 February 2009. She further conveyed Norway's support of an extension of UNMIT’s mandate for a period of 12 months.
