Statement by Minister of International Development Erik Solheim at the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Amman 10.-14.desember.

Three NGOs representing gays and lesbians were given consultative status by ECOSOC on December 11. Their applications had earlier been blocked by the UN NGO committee, which has now been overruled by ECOSOC. Norway, by First Secretary Jonas Jølle,  delivered the following statement in support of the three NGOs, emphasising their role in fighting discrimination against gays and lesbians.  

"The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) needs strong political and financial partners. Norway sees itself as one of these", State Secretary Raymond Johansen said at the High Level Conferance at the UN. Fifty donors pledged nearly 350 USD to the fund at the conference.

"I personally believe that Norway and the US share the same aims, hopes and concepts of what is good, and what is peace and what is freedom, as was so powerfully and poetically expressed in the documents of the American Revolution,"  Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonas Gahr Støre, said in a speech in the Oslo Military Society.  

Councellor of legal affairs, Mari Skåre, held the following statement in the plenary meeting of the General Assembly on the reports of the International Criminal Tribunals for Rwanda and the Former Yugoslavia.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonas Gahr Støre, opened the third plenary conference of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Oslo with the following speech::

"Together, we try to pave the way for a global consensus on steps to sustain and strengthen arms control and non-proliferation, "  State Secretary Kjetil Skogrand said  in his speech to the First Committee in October. This is the committee that deals with issues related to international security and disarmament.

Ambassador for Women's Rights and Gender Equality, Guro K. Vikør, made the following statement in UN General Assembly, Third Committee:

Senior adviser, Kjetil Paulsen, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made this statement in the First Committee on Tuesday 11.

"It is in Norway´s best interest that we have a UN-led world order. The Government will therefore work to strengthen the UN and international law,”  said Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg at United Nation General Assembly's 61st. Session on the opening day.
