Three NGOs representing gays and lesbians were given consultative status by ECOSOC on December 11. Their applications had earlier been blocked by the UN NGO committee, which has now been overruled by ECOSOC. Norway, by First Secretary Jonas Jølle,  delivered the following statement in support of the three NGOs, emphasising their role in fighting discrimination against gays and lesbians.

"The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) needs strong political and financial partners. Norway sees itself as one of these", State Secretary Raymond Johansen said at the High Level Conferance at the UN. Fifty donors pledged nearly 350 USD to the fund at the conference.
