Norway is the 5th largest voluntary contributor to the United Nations funds, programs and specialized agencies, giving a total of USD 826 million in 2006.
30/05/2008 :: Only the United States, followed by the UK, Japan and Sweden are contributing more to the UN funds, programs and specialized agencies than Norway, according to a report of the Secretary General.
The voluntary contribution of USD 826 million was distributed to the various UN programmes, such as UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, WFP and other special bodies with operational activities. Assessed contributions and funding for peacekeeping operations are not included.
Ranked by countries ratio to gross national income (GNI) in 2006, Norway is still the number one contributor, giving 0.27 percent of its GNI.
