Panel Discussion: Implementing the Human Security Approach at the National Level

The United Nations General Assembly, at its sixty-sixth session, adopted by consensu General Assembly resolution 66/290 entitled, "Follow-up to paragraph 143 on human security of the 2005 World Summit Outcome". This resolution marks a significant milestone on a common understanding on human security and its implenentation by the international community.

On 2 October 2013, the Human Security Network (Austria, Chile (Chair), Costa Rica, Greece, Ireland, Jordan, Mali, Norway, Panama, Slovenia, Switzerland, South Africa (observer) and Thailand), in partnership with the Human Security Unit, will host a panel discussion on the application of human security. Expert presentation on the value of the human security approach from a diverse group of country experiences will provide for an interactive dialogue on this important topic.
