The International Peace Institute (IPI), the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN), and the Mission of Norway are pleased to invite you to the launch of the report, “Vision and Voice: What the Women Say.”

The report provides key findings from ICAN’s Women’s Rights, Peace, and Security Forum for the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, which was held in Istanbul, Turkey, in September 2012.

The ICAN report findings include: the rising threat of extremism and deliberate targeting of women, the need to assess and reform the role of regional and international actors in contributing to violence, the backsliding of human rights and democracy provisions, and the critical need to bolster a nascent civil society in its efforts to uphold core universal human rights principles.

Ambassador Maureen Quinn, a Senior Adviser at the International Peace Institute, will be the moderator.

We hope that you will join us for this important discussion.

Speakers:
Ms. Hanaa Edwar, Founder of Al-Amal Association, Iraq
Ms. Khedija Arfaoui, Tunisian Association of Democratic Women, Tunisia
Ms. Visaka Dharmadasa, Founder of the Association of War Affected Women, Sri Lanka
Ms. Sanam Naraghi Anderlini, Co-Founder and Executive Director of ICAN, a Senior Fellow at the MIT Center for International Studies, and a former member of the UN Mediation Standby Team of Experts
